Wind Witch Gimbal
Challenge 1. Use a theme from Heaven’s Breath.
In Heaven’s Breath, wind witches were described with having rituals, and most importantly to me, tools.
I was drawn to the themes of human kind’s occult relationship with the wind. I imagined a modern witch being payed to summon a wind in order to power a community that relies on the wind.
The witch would use a dead raven (having been killed by the wind turbine) and a special tool in order to summon the wind.

Challenge 2. Create housing that meets manufacturing constraints.
In order to sell the idea, I needed a physical product that would act as a wind witch’s tool.
I used a variety of methods to create a robust object with pieces that could be printed from a standard 3D printer.
I centered the design around long, bonelike structures. I also chose a gimbal because of their unerving, lifelike movements.

Challenge 3. Gather a team in order to make the project a reality.
I needed help with electrical engineering, casting, and art direction.
I enlisted the help of two of my friends, incidently both are named Christian, in order to engineer the components inside of the housing.
I consulted with my friend Kate who had worked on a documentary about modern witches and helped with casting for the witch in the final video.
